Tuy: The chief physician of the Hound© health district, Youssouf Ou©draogo, has urged the residents of Tuy to seek early medical treatment at health facilities to prevent diseases from developing into severe complications. This call was made during the 2nd ordinary session of the Provincial Epidemic Management Committee (CPGE) of Tuy, which focused on assessing the epidemiological surveillance in the Hound© health district.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Ou©draogo emphasized the importance of early medical attention, stating, “When you are sick, you must go to a health facility very early for early treatment, which helps prevent the disease from developing into complications that could lead to death.” He highlighted concerns over patients arriving late at health facilities, which complicates care.
Dr. Ou©draogo also addressed malaria prevention, advising the population to sleep under mosquito nets and use repellents. He stressed the significance of identifying and eliminating mosquito breeding grounds to prevent diseases like malaria and dengue fever.
Wendpour© Ou©draogo, head of the Center for Health Information and Epidemiological Surveillance (CISSE), reported that during 2024, at least one case was noted for all diseases under surveillance, including measles, meningitis, dengue fever, malaria, and chikungunya. The district dealt with a measles epidemic early in the year, which was controlled by the 22nd week. The district recorded 195,752 cases of simple malaria and 6,476 cases of severe malaria, with serious cases often linked to delayed consultations.
In his remarks, High Commissioner Issiaka Segda commended the district management team’s efforts and encouraged them to improve health indicators in the province. He also expressed gratitude to the Burkinabe Red Cross for its financial support and volunteer efforts in promoting accessible healthcare.
