Hound©: The provincial directorate in charge of culture in Tuy organized an immersion visit to the traditional forge of Hound© on Wednesday for secondary school students, as part of Burkinabe Heritage Month. "We came to visit the Hound© forge. It was interesting. We saw how dabas and other tools used in agriculture are made. We also learned about the blacksmiths' customs," said Oumou To©, a ninth-grade student.
According to Burkina Information Agency, around fifty students from the general education college of sector no. 3 of Hound© participated in this immersion visit. The event was organized by the provincial directorate of communication, culture, arts and tourism (DPCCAT) of Tuy, as part of the 3rd edition of Burkinabe Heritage Month.
Accompanied by educators and DPCCAT agents, the students were welcomed by the master of the forge, Do Didiro. The visitors explored the various units of the forge and learned about the main tools used in the transformation of ores, such as bellows, hammers, and adzes.
The students discovered that the blacksmith's profession not only involves metalworking but also includes the art of sculpture. They observed ornamental statuettes carved from wood and received explanations about the symbolism of these works.
Isma«l Bationo, the provincial director of DPCCAT, stated that the objective is to promote the cultural riches of the province and to raise awareness among students about their preservation. He expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm and interest shown by the students in this activity.
"This encourages us to become more involved in promoting our heritage and I invite the population of the province to take an interest in domestic tourism in order to enhance our cultural and tourist potential," Bationo remarked.
The 3rd edition of Burkinabe Heritage Month was celebrated from April 18 to May 18, 2025, in Burkina Faso under the theme 'Cultural Heritage and Economic Development'.
