Tuy: An association brings clothes and shoes to IDPs


The Benkadi association in Houndé handed over batches of clothing and shoes for the benefit of internally displaced people on Tuesday September 12, 2023 in Houndé. It was in the presence of the provincial director in charge of humanitarian action, Yazouma Alexis Doh representing the High Commissioner of Tuy.



A total of 17 bales including 15 bales of clothing and 2 bales of shoes that the Benkadi association in Houndé gave to internally displaced persons (IDPs).



The symbolic handover took place this Tuesday, September 12, 2023 in the social action courtyard in the presence of the beneficiaries.



According to the president of the Benkadi association, Mariam H. Bah, these donations were possible thanks to young Burkinabè residents in Canada who were sensitive to the situation of their internally displaced brothers and sisters in the Tuy province.



This is why they mobilized these clothes and shoes to help them, she said.



The president of the Benkadi association said she was enthusiastic about having given these donations to the IDPs while wishing them to make good use of them.



The provincial director in charge of humanitarian action, Yazouma Alexis Doh expressed his joy at receiving these donations.



According to him, as of March 31, 2023, there are approximately 20,000 displaced people in the Tuy province, including nearly 17,000 in Houndé.



He thanked the Benkadi association as well as all the partners with whose support his service manages as best it can to support vulnerable people.



The representative of the beneficiaries, Bassirou Sawadogo, for his part, thanked the donor.
