Turkana Governor Lomorukai Calls for Unity Among Leaders for County’s Development

TURKANA – In a call for solidarity among leaders, Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai emphasized the need for unity to advance the welfare of the county’s residents. His remarks were made during a celebration honoring the retirement of Madam Elizabeth Nadio, a dedicated educator with over 41 years of service.

According to Kenya News Agency, the key to driving development in Turkana lies in the collaboration and unity among its leaders. He stressed his commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region and expressed his determination to work closely with other communities to achieve common objectives for the people of Turkana. During his tenure, he has vowed to support government initiatives against banditry, aiming to protect residents and their properties.

The governor also addressed the issue of incitement among leaders regarding border disputes, particularly in Turkana East, Turkana South, and Aro sub-counties. Emphasizing the county government’s dedication to achieving food security, Governor Lomorukai stated his intention to collaborate with leaders who support this agenda, focusing on improving the lives of Turkana residents.

Senator James Lomenen, speaking at the event, urged elected officials to remain committed to their responsibilities and not be sidetracked by external factors. Woman Representative Cecilia Ngitit highlighted the critical role of peace in fostering development, calling on neighboring communities to embrace peaceful relations for mutual progress.

Turkana East MP Nicholas Ng’ikor appealed to residents to avoid conflicts and embrace peaceful coexistence as part of the larger Kenyan community. Additionally, several Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) including Samuel Aliwo (Lobokat), Samuel Lomodo (Lokichar), Etubon Samal (Katilu), and Aemun Ekaale Michael (Kaputir) also shared their insights during the celebration, each underscoring the importance of unity and peace for the county’s advancement.
