The Tunisian Association for the Support of Minorities welcomed the measures taken by the Presidency of the Republic, mentioned in the communiqué released on Sunday on migration.
The association considered that these measures respond to the calls of civil society.
In a statement released on Monday, the association called for the organisation of a regional congress focusing on migration, affirming the imperative to deal with this issue in cooperation with the different countries and societies in the region.
The association also called for the opening of an investigation into the violations perpetrated against migrants in some neighbourhoods.
The Presidency of the Republic decided Sunday on a set of measures including the issuance of a one-year residence permit for students from African countries in order to facilitate their residence in Tunisia as well as the periodic renewal of the documents within the appropriate timeframe.
