Tsumkwe Man Allegedly Commits Suicide at Nhoma Village


Tsumkwe: A 51-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at the Tsumkwe settlement in the Otjozondjupa Region in the early hours of Monday. The deceased was identified by relatives as Steve Kunta from Nhoma village.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force’s head of community affairs in the region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, shared details in an interview on Monday. Mbeha stated that Kunta’s body was discovered at about 01h00. It was reported that Kunta had informed his wife upon her late return home that he was leaving the house. Shortly after, he exited the house.



When Kunta’s wife followed him outside minutes later, she discovered his lifeless body a short distance away. He was found in a seated position with a belt tied around his neck, attached to a pole. The police have indicated that no foul play is suspected, and Kunta did not leave behind a suicide note. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
