ADDIS ABABA — In a significant development, Trkiye has bolstered its strategic alliance with the African Union (AU), ensuring that their cooperation aligns with the AU’s Agenda 2063, said Trkiye Ambassador to Ethiopia and AU Permanent Representative Berk Baran.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the strengthened partnership was highlighted during a ceremony where the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) donated flags to the AU. The flags were received by Fathallah Sijilmassi, Director General of the African Union Commission. The ambassador emphasized that this gesture underscores the robust relationship between Trkiye and the AU. He remarked that the collaboration and strategic ties with the AU have been consistently intensifying since their inception in 2008.
The ambassador also recalled President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s extensive engagement with the continent, including official visits to 31 African countries, which he cited as evidence of Trkiye’s deep interest in strengthening ties with Africa. He affirmed that all projects with Africa are crafted to resonate with the principles of Agenda 2063, reflecting a committed and strategic approach to their partnership.
