Train Collision in Sharqiya Claims Three Lives, Injures Dozens

Zagazig—A tragic train collision in Sharqiya Province, just north of Cairo, resulted in three deaths and injuries to 49 others on Saturday, as confirmed by Egypt’s Ministry of Health.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the Ministry of Health reported that of those injured, 44 are in stable condition and expected to be released from hospitals shortly. However, five individuals remain under critical observation due to unstable conditions. The ministry had previously announced the dispatch of 39 ambulances to the crash site in Zagazig City to facilitate urgent medical responses and evacuations.



Hazem al-Ashmouny, governor of Sharqiya Province, provided an update on local television stating that all passengers from the affected trains have been evacuated and efforts are currently focused on restoring train service on the affected railway line. Further details emerged from Egypt’s National Railway Authority, which has established a committee of railway specialists tasked with investigating the technical causes of the accident.
