Train Collision in Egypt’s Sharqiya Province Results in Fatalities and Numerous Injuries


Zagazig City – A catastrophic train collision in Sharqiya Province, north of Cairo, resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to 49 others on Saturday, as per an official statement from Egypt’s Ministry of Health.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the Ministry of Health reported that 44 of the injured were in stable condition and expected to be discharged soon, while five others remain under close observation due to their unstable conditions. The ministry had previously noted that 39 ambulances were promptly dispatched to the scene in Zagazig City to facilitate the evacuation of the injured.



Hazem al-Ashmouny, the Governor of Sharqiya Province, provided updates on local television stating that all passengers had been evacuated from the trains involved in the accident. Efforts are currently being made to restore traffic along the affected railway line, indicating a push to resume normal operations as swiftly as possible.



Further details were provided by Egypt’s National Railway Authority, which announced the formation of a specialized committee to investigate the technical causes of the accident. This committee, comprising railway specialists, aims to thoroughly examine the factors contributing to the collision to prevent future incidents.
