Tragic Snake Bite Incident Claims Life of 10-Year-Old Boy in Oshikoto


OSHIKOTO: A 10-year-old boy tragically passed away after being bitten by a snake in Oshaataha village, Oshikoto Region. The incident occurred on Tuesday when the boy was walking alone in the bush.



According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), Nikanor Hashali was bitten on his left leg and immediately informed his mother, who rushed him to Onamishu clinic. Despite receiving medical attention for nearly three hours, Hashali unfortunately died at the clinic. His body was transferred to the Omuthiya State Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem, and his next of kin have been notified. In a separate incident, Nashikaku reported a livestock theft case at Farm Boxer-Halter in Tsumeb, where 15 goats worth N.dollars 30,000 were stolen. The suspects allegedly gathered the goats, slaughtered them without the owner’s consent, and transported the meat to Kuvukiland in Tsumeb. The police intercepted the suspects during the offloading process. Four individuals, including three males aged 23, 24, and 27, and a 44-year-old female, were arrested. They are scheduled to appear before the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
