Tragic Outcome for Namibian Man Following Traffic Accident

Oshikoto Region — A 36-year-old man from Northern Namibia, identified as Shidhika Leopald, tragically ended his life by hanging in the early hours of Saturday following a motor vehicle accident. Leopald was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.



According to Namibia Press Agency, Deputy Commissioner Titus Ekandjo, the crime investigation coordinator for the region, detailed that the incident occurred around 01:50 at Okavugu village in the Olukonda constituency. Leopald, an employee of the Northern Namibia Regional Electricity Distributor (NORED), was involved in an accident where his vehicle, a silver Toyota pickup, collided with a silver Toyota sedan. Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the accident happened.



Following the collision, Leopald reportedly fled the scene without waiting for police, locking his vehicle and abandoning it. Approximately an hour later, he was found deceased in his bedroom at his residence, a few kilometers from the accident site, with an electric wire around his neck.



Only one female passenger in the sedan sustained minor injuries during the accident. Leopald’s body has been transported to Onandjokwe State Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Authorities reported that no suicide note was found and that the next of kin have been notified of the tragic event.
