TENKODOGO — The Union of Traders and Assimilated People of Tenkodogo (UCAT) contributed 1.5 million FCFA to fund a surveillance drone for Koulpélogo Province, gathered during a reforestation event that included the planting of 100 utility plants.
According to Burkina Information Agency, president of UCAT, the funds were raised as part of their reforestation day which also saw the planting of multiple plant varieties suited to the local climate. The event was attended by Bérenger Poda, president of the special delegation of Tenkodogo and representatives from the regional governor's office. It was sponsored by notable figures including Ibrahim Saba, Director General of La Poste Burkina, and El Hadj Ousseni Sorgho, CEO of Excel Burkina.
The donation will support local efforts to enhance security through technological means while also promoting environmental sustainability. Bérenger Poda expressed gratitude for the community's active involvement and emphasized the government's prioritization of environmental issues under the leadership of President Faso. He underscored the importance of citizen participation in national reforestation efforts, echoing a call by President Captain Ibrahim Traoré for all Burkinabè to plant trees and restore the nation's plant cover.
