OUAGADOUGOU: The 35th edition of the Tour international du Faso is set to commence with the official presentation of participating teams on Thursday, October 24, announced the ministry responsible for sports. The event, which will be held at the monument of national heroes, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. GMT and will be broadcast live on the Burkina Radio and Television channel.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment is spearheading the organization of the tour and has extended an invitation to the Burkinabe public and cycling enthusiasts to gather at the monument in Ouaga 2000 from 5 p.m. The ministry aims to rally support for the local cycling teams, affectionately known as the “cycling Stallions.”

A total of 15 teams, including three representing Burkina Faso, will compete in this year’s tour. The opening stage of the race will take place on Friday, October 25, spanning a distance of 136 kilometers between Koulbila and Tenkodogo. Notably absent from this ed
ition is Burkinabe cyclist Paul Daumont, who secured the prestigious yellow jersey in the previous year’s 34th edition.
