Tour Angola 2025 to Feature 16 Nations in Commemoration of Independence Milestone


Luanda: Sixteen countries have confirmed their participation in the 4th edition of the “Tour Angola Pepino 2025” road cycling race, set to take place from October 30th to November 9th. This event marks the 50th anniversary of Angola’s National Independence and features an increase of nine countries from the previous edition.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the event is organized by the Angolan Cycling Federation (FACI) and will include ten stages, covering seven provinces: Namibe, Huíla, Benguela, Cuanza Sul, Zaire, Bengo, and Luanda. The route is designed to promote sport, national unity, and socio-economic development.

FACI Vice President Osvaldo Jacinto announced that 11 foreign teams, each comprising nine athletes, will participate alongside 16 Angolan teams. This promises to elevate the competitive quality of the event and enhance Angola’s reputation in African cycling.

Participating countries include Portugal and France from Europe, and Angola, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Botswan
a, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Senegal, Mali, Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Mozambique, and Cape Verde from Africa.

The “Tour Angola Pepino 2025” is part of the celebrations for Angola’s 50th Independence anniversary and is recognized as a major sporting event on the national calendar. The organization seeks to foster exchanges between Portuguese-speaking and African countries, enhance domestic tourism, and spotlight national sports talent.

The federation assures that all necessary logistical and technical preparations are underway to ensure a safe and high-level competition, reinforcing Angola’s status as a key destination for African cycling.

In the previous year’s Tour Angola, cyclists from Angola, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, France, Nigeria, So Tomé, and the DRC competed over 11 stages. The itinerary for the “Volta Angola Pepino 2025” includes a mix of prologue, cross-country races, and an individual time trial, with a scheduled rest day on November 5, 2025, in Zaire/Soyo, before concluding with a long-distance race in Luanda.
