Tornado in Boulsa, Burkina Faso Claims Three Lives, Injures Eight


Boulsa, Burkina Faso – A severe tornado on the evening of May 28, 2024, resulted in three fatalities, eight injuries, and significant property damage in Boulsa, the capital of Namentenga province.



According to Burkina Information Agency, prefect-president of the special municipal delegation, and the provincial director responsible for Humanitarian Action, the incident occurred around 10:20 p.m., causing widespread destruction. Emergency response teams from the Provincial Commission for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (COPROSUR) are actively assessing the damage and coordinating relief efforts. The injured have received initial treatment at the local medical center with a surgical branch, with critical cases slated for transfer to larger facilities in Ouagadougou.
