Togo Engages Burkinabè Firm to Advance Agricultural Mechanization in Kara

LOMÉ — The Togolese Republic has embarked on a significant initiative to enhance agricultural production in Kara by setting up a dedicated mechanization center, leveraging the expertise of a renowned Burkinabè training center.

According to Burkina Information Agency, on April 20, 2024, a partnership agreement was signed in Lomé between the Professional Training Center in Mining Machinery Operation and Workplace Safety (CFPEM-SST) and Bonkoungou Distribution (BKG Distribution). This collaboration aims to operationalize the Kara Regional Agricultural Mechanization Center (CRMAK), a project launched in April 2023 by Togo’s President, Faure Gnassingbé. The government has granted BKG Distribution a 25-year contract to implement this ambitious project.

The CFPEM-SST, based in Ouagadougou and established in 2015 by Ibrahim Ouédraogo, is tasked with providing technical expertise for the development of the CRMAK. The center is known for its specialized training in the operation of mining and construction equipment and will now support BKG Distribution in establishing and running the new agricultural mechanization hub in Kara.
