Toddler Dies in Tragic Incident at Okathitukambanda Village

Omusati region: The police in the Omusati Region are investigating the death of a 22-month-old boy at Okathitukambanda village in the Ogongo Constituency on Monday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Regional Commander Ismael Basson stated that the incident reportedly occurred around 19h40. The child, identified as Megameno Amweenye, was left under minimal supervision with his twin cousins, aged two, and another five-year-old cousin.

It is alleged that the twins were responsible for shoving sand into the deceased's mouth, nose, and eyes. The tragic circumstances have led to an investigation by local authorities.

No arrests have been made as the suspects are minors. The next of kin have been informed about the incident, and the community is in mourning over the loss of young Megameno.
