Tjipuka: We Had a Mission

Tjipuka: Uripeke Tjipuka, the head coach of Omurari waCoblenz FC, said his team accomplished its mission after being crowned champions of the Clemens Rukatero Vihajo Okamatapati Soccer League on Sunday. The fourth-tier league, comprising nine football teams, was established to expose young footballers to the country's top leagues.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Tjipuka stated the team's objectives were met following the goals they set at the beginning of the league campaign. "Our mission was to win the league, and that has become a reality. It was not an easy season, but we are happy that we emerged at the end," said the head coach. Tjipuka added that the players showed a strong hunger for success and that their commitment throughout the campaign was exceptional.

Tjipuka emphasized the consistency and discipline displayed by the players, which significantly contributed to their achievement. However, he also highlighted the challenges faced by the team, particularly with transport issues. "We had difficulties travelling to play in Okamatapati, and there were instances where players had to walk to a hiking point to honour the league. It was not easy, but we overcame it," he said.

The head coach also noted the disruption caused by Grade 11 examinations, as some players had to sit for their exams. Omurari waCoblenz finished top of the league with 36 points from 16 matches, closely followed by Okamatapati CS in second place with 35 points. Ekuija Monjama FC claimed the third position with 30 points. Tololo FC and Scorpions FC finished in ninth and eighth positions respectively, with seven and eight points.

The champions are expected to play in the third-tier league next season. Omurari waCoblenz FC was established in 2025 with the aim of grooming and exposing young players to the country's top leagues.
