TITAO – In a remarkable display of community support, the women of Loroum have donated more than a million francs to the high commissioner of Loroum province, Djibril Bassolé, for the peace effort. The donation ceremony took place on Monday, January 8, 2024, in Titao.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this substantial contribution of one million ten thousand francs was collectively raised by the provincial coordination of women’s organizations of Loroum and the communal coordination of women’s organizations of Titao. This act of generosity was a response to the call from Head of State Ibrahim Traoré, who urged a patriotic contribution to the national war effort.
Aminata Porgo, the provincial coordinator of women’s organizations in Loroum, explained that their motivation was to support the defense and security forces in reclaiming national territory. She detailed how women across the community contributed to this cause, whether it was by donating small sums of money, food, or condiments.
Aminata Kagoné, the municipal coordinator of women’s organizations in Titao, highlighted the overwhelming participation in the initiative, with more than 5,000 women contributing. She expressed the group’s readiness to undertake further initiatives to help secure their territory.
High Commissioner Djibril Bassolé expressed his gratitude for the contribution, noting its significance in Titao and encouraging other localities like Sollé and Banh to follow suit. This donation is part of a series of initiatives undertaken in the Loroum province since the launch of the peace effort operation. In December 2023, young people from the locality had also mobilized to provide food support to volunteers defending the homeland.
