Ouahigouya – In a significant move to support vulnerable households in Titao, a town in the Northern region, the special delegation of Titao distributed 100 gas kits and 400 household kits on Sunday, November 26, 2023. This initiative is a part of efforts to bolster the resilience of the local populations and follows the recent technology allocations for learners at the non-formal basic education center.

According to Burkina Information Agency, The distribution of these kits was a response to the challenges faced by residents in acquiring firewood, a task made increasingly difficult due to the security context in the area. Many women have been compelled to use grass or cow dung for cooking, highlighting the urgent need for alternative fuel sources.

The special delegation of Titao, collaborating with the 3 Frontières project, handed over the 400 household kits and 100 gas kits, each weighing 6 kilograms, to assist the city’s vulnerable families. Aminata Zango, the communal women’s coordinator, lauded this initiative, noting its practicality in easing the burden on women struggling to find firewood.

Zango advised the new users of the kits to exercise caution, acknowledging the benefits of gas while also warning of potential risks and incidents associated with its use. She expressed gratitude to the special delegation for their contribution, emphasizing the positive impact of the household kits on the living conditions of the families.

Oumarou Dialla, the vice-president of the special delegation, underscored that this gesture is part of a broader strategy to enhance the resilience of communities severely affected by the ongoing security crisis. He highlighted the continuous efforts over four days to provide basic necessities to the populations, supported by the 3 Frontières project.

Dialla called for additional support from other partners to help alleviate the hardships faced by the people in Titao. The town has been experiencing a challenging security situation, but the combined efforts of local initiatives and fighting forces have been instrumental in strengthening the resilience of the local communities.
