Titao Revives Provincial Consultation Framework with First Meeting Since 2021

Titao: Marking a significant step towards reclaiming local governance, the city of Titao hosted the second session of the provincial consultation framework on Thursday, December 28, 2023. This event, led by the High Commissioner of the Loroum province, Captain Djibril Bassolé, was the first in Titao since the relocation of services and administration to Ouahigouya in December 2021.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the session convened local authorities, managers of functional technical services, associations, development NGOs, and customary and religious leaders. Ramatou Zango, an association manager, expressed pride in the initiative, highlighting the valuable information shared about the activities of the NGO Terres des Hommes (TdH) and the ALIMA-KEOGO-SOS Médecin Burkina Faso consortium in Titao. She called for community support for defense and security forces in their mission to secure the territory.

Hamidou Zagara, head of TdH in Titao, reflected on the year's achievements and shared optimistic plans for 2024, focusing on combating child malnutrition.

High Commissioner Bassolé commended the efforts of development partners in supporting local populations, encouraging further assistance and expressing confidence in the future initiatives of TdH and Alima.

The consultation also reviewed the activities of humanitarian NGOs and the distribution of CONASUR food to Titao's populations. The provincial police director, Aboubakary Sourabié, provided an update on the security situation and appealed for support for the defense and security forces.

This meeting in Titao marks a hopeful return to normalcy and active local governance, fostering collaboration among various stakeholders for the betterment of the community.
