TITAO — On Sunday, June 16, 2024, the Muslim community of Titao gathered to celebrate the Eid El Kebir festival, expressing gratitude towards the combatant forces for their efforts in reclaiming national territory. During various ceremonies across the city, including in prominent sectors and mosques, imams emphasized the need for peace, social cohesion, and unity under challenging security conditions.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in Tansaliga, Imam Amadé Ouédraogo underscored the importance of solidarity and sharing among the faithful amidst the ongoing security and humanitarian challenges. The High Commissioner of Loroum province, Djibril Bassolé, attended the ceremonies, affirming the administration’s support for the Muslim community and urging religious leaders and communities to educate youth on adhering strictly to security protocols and to collaborate openly with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS). The presence of government officials like Bassolé highlighted the administration’s commitment to fostering a cooperative relationship with religious communities in enhancing local security measures.
In Sector 6, at the large mosque of Bounayiri, and in Sogodin, prayers were led by Imam Mahamadi Kagoné, focusing on peace and governmental support. Meanwhile, in Sector 3 at the Sunni mosque, Imam Mamoudou Gamsonré called on worshippers to pray for peace and social cohesion. Throughout the celebrations, the community appreciated the recent supply of essentials to Titao, which facilitated the observance of the festival under better conditions.
