Loroum: A few weeks after the baptism of the parade ground of the National Brigade of Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (BVDP) in honor of the renowned resistance fighter Soumaïla Ganamé, known as “Ladji Yoro,” by the Minister of Defense, Gal Kassoum Coulibaly, the residents of Titao express their appreciation for the national authorities’ gesture.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the government’s initiative to name the parade ground after “Ladji Yoro” has been positively received in Titao, especially among the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) and the local population. For security purposes, aliases are used in reporting personal accounts from the residents.
Hamidou, a volunteer who worked closely with the famed VDP, expressed his happiness about the honor bestowed upon Ladji Yoro, emphasizing the recognition of his bravery and sacrifice. He hopes a similar monument will be erected in Titao, where Ladji spent his last days.

y, noting Ladji’s dedication to defending his locality, which ultimately cost him his life. He believes the tribute demonstrates that the national authorities have not forgotten Ladji and hopes it motivates young VDPs while encouraging further support for their mission.
The civilian population, too, unanimously acknowledges the authorities’ commendable gesture. Issaka, a Titao resident who witnessed Ladji Yoro’s struggles, believes the act fosters patriotic commitment and hopes for continued efforts in reclaiming national territory.
Issaka called for a sustained commitment to the territorial reconquest, aspiring to see Ladji’s vision of liberation fulfilled. He feels honored by the authorities’ recognition of Ladji’s contributions.
Yassia, another Titao resident, emphasized the significance of immortalizing Ladji, acknowledging his ultimate sacrifice for his homeland. He lauded the authorities for their tribute, which he feels validates Ladji’s commitment and inspires continued patriotism.

g Titao native, highlighted Ladji’s selfless patriotism, recalling how he defended his community without expectation of reward. Ibrahim noted that Ladji’s dedication ensured the protection of their locality.
As a historical reminder, on December 23, 2021, while securing a supply convoy from Titao, Ladji Yoro and several companions were killed in an ambush by terrorists. On October 29, 2024, the Minister of State, Minister of Defense, named the BVDP parade ground in Ladji Yoro’s honor.
