Tinderet Residents Urged to Collaborate with Security Agencies to Enhance Peace

Tinderet: Tinderet Deputy County Commissioner Joseph Lenkarie has urged area residents to work closely with security agencies to safeguard peace and stability in the area. Speaking during a well-attended stakeholder meeting over the weekend, Lenkarie stressed that security is a shared responsibility, calling for concerted efforts from all members of the community to address emerging threats and maintain order.

According to Kenya News Agency, the meeting brought together a wide array of leaders and stakeholders, including Tinderet MP Julius Melly, Members of County Assembly (MCAs), religious leaders, representatives of youth and women groups, non-governmental organizations, community leaders, and community policing units. Lenkarie urged residents to be vigilant and to report suspicious individuals and activities, noting that criminal elements often thrive in environments where communities remain silent.

He assured residents that security agencies are committed to handling information confidentially and professionally, encouraging more people to come forward without fear. Lenkarie also raised concern over declining moral standards, particularly among young people, warning that the erosion of values is closely linked to rising cases of crime.

He called on parents, religious leaders, and community elders to take a leading role in mentoring the youth and instilling positive values. On peaceful coexistence, he urged residents to embrace unity and tolerance despite differences, noting that divisions often create fertile ground for conflict.

He further encouraged community policing groups to intensify their efforts and work hand in hand with the National Government Administration Officers to enhance surveillance and early response to incidents. MP Julius Melly lauded the initiative as timely and necessary, emphasizing the importance of supporting security agencies by being vigilant and responsible citizens.
