Three-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped in Oshana

Oshana: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshana Region is investigating a case involving the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl after her mother left her to collect firewood.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the incident occurred on Friday around 10:30 a.m. at Ondukutu village in Oshitayi. NamPol Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi revealed that the suspect is a 24-year-old male living in the victim's house. "The mother went to fetch firewood and left the victim in the house with other children and the suspect. While being given a bath later, the victim allegedly started crying and told her mother what happened," she stated.

The young girl was taken to Onandjokwe State Hospital for medical attention, and the suspect was subsequently arrested. "The suspect has not yet been charged and police investigations continue," Shikwambi reported.

In a separate incident on the same day at Oshikango location in Oshakati, a 21-year-old Angolan woman was allegedly raped by an Angolan man who had offered her accommodation. The woman had traveled from Endola to Oshakati on Wednesday, heading to Omungwelume for a job. She was dropped off at the Omungwelume taxi rank around 1:00 p.m. While waiting for her contact, the suspect approached her and suggested she spend the night at his place since her contact did not arrive.

The victim stayed at the suspect's house from Wednesday, and on Friday around midnight, he allegedly raped her. The suspect has not yet been arrested, and police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
