Three minors perish in shack fire at Mix informal settlement

Three minors aged, two, seven and nine died in a shack fire in the early hours of Saturday, at Mix informal settlement, on the outskirts of Windhoek.

A weekend crime report by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Sunday indicated that the incident happened at about 03H09 when the minors, two males and one female, all perished in the fire.

The cause of the fire is still not yet determined, it read.

Meanwhile, a French couple was on Saturday looted off their properties and cash near the TransNamib railway station in Windhoek.

The incident happened at around 16H00 when three armed suspects approached the couple and robbed them of a backpack containing two Samsung Galaxy cellular phones, a driver’s license, 230 Euros in cash, and a booklet with contacts.

No arrests nor recoveries have been made and police investigations in both matters continue.
