Three Men Charged with Stock Theft to Appear in Mariental Court

MARIENTAL — Three men, aged 31, 39, and 40, are slated to appear in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing charges of stock theft after being arrested over the weekend. This incident is part of a series of crimes reported across Namibia, including break-ins and vehicle thefts.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the men were apprehended on Saturday for allegedly entering a local farm, stealing, and slaughtering livestock valued at N$12,000. The theft reportedly occurred between Thursday and Friday, though the exact time remains unclear. This case underscores a broader crime wave in the region, prompting heightened police activity.

In a separate incident at Walvis Bay, two men, aged 40 and 51, are expected to face court charges for housebreaking and vehicle theft. They allegedly cut open the roof of T and M Machine Tools early Saturday morning, stealing items worth N$144,103, including a company vehicle. The stolen goods were later found abandoned but recovered by the authorities.

Additionally, Walvis Bay police are investigating another theft where personal items and cash—totaling N$562,665—were stolen from a vehicle parked at Lagoon 8th Road West of Meersig. The stolen assets include an Apple MacBook, a digital camera, and several lenses.

Police at Nkurenkuru are also investigating a break-in at Law’s Pub shebeen, where suspects allegedly stole a computer set and cash amounting to N$16,000 after breaking a padlock to gain entry.

As these various criminal cases unfold, police continue their investigations, aiming to curb the rising tide of thefts and break-ins across the region.
