Benguela: Three people lost their lives and 20 were injured on Wednesday as a result of a road accident involving a bus from the inter-provincial transport company Huambo Expresso, near Alto Pundo, in Benguela province. The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when the Huambo Expresso bus, allegedly due to excessive speed, overturned on National Road EN-250, near Alto Pundo, on the Bocoio - Lobito road. According to Angola Press News Agency, Aurélio Pacatolo, clinical director of the Lobito Regional Hospital, stated that the situation of at least three injured people is worrying, including a woman with severe brain trauma. Aurélio Patacolo also mentioned the presence of two children among the injured, adding that they suffered only minor head abrasions and are out of danger. The health official noted that the emergency room at Lobito Regional Hospital was so crowded that all of the orthopedic doctors at the hospital were mobilized to provide care for those injured in the accident. Benguela government re newed the appeal to road users to strictly observe traffic rules as a way to prevent accidents and, consequently, loss of human lives. The government expressed deepest sorrow and solidarity with the bereaved families and all those affected by this tragic car accident and wished a speedy recovery to the injured who are under medical care in the province's hospitals. The local government said it is closely monitoring the situation and awaits the conclusions of the competent authorities regarding the causes of the accident.
