Ondangwa: Police in Ondangwa are investigating a rape case after a 13-year-old boy allegedly raped a girl aged eight at Oshandubala village on Friday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, a weekly crime report issued by Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, stated that the girl went to play at a neighbour's house when the suspect took her to a separate room and allegedly raped her. 'No arrest has been made yet,' Shikwambi said.
In a separate incident at Gochas, a 33-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 20-year-old man on Friday. The incident occurred around 03h00 at a house in Hei-eib location. The two were reportedly seen drinking together. Shikwambi indicated that the woman had gone to sleep and upon waking, the suspect was allegedly busy having sexual intercourse with her, without her consent. 'The suspect has been arrested and both the complainant and the suspect were taken to Mariental State Hospital to be examined. Police investigations are ongoing,' she said.
Meanwhile, a 39-year-old police officer allegedly fatally shot himself in Windhoek on Saturday after shooting and injuring his girlfriend. The incident occurred around 21h00 in the Khomasdal residential area. The suspect, Ivanoi Inacio Vatilifa, shot his 36-year-old girlfriend in the neck before shooting himself in the head with a service pistol during an argument, the crime report said.
