Third Round of US-Iran Nuclear Talks Commences in Muscat: Reports

Muscat: The third round of US-Iran indirect nuclear talks has commenced in the capital of Oman, Muscat, as reported by the IRIB broadcaster.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the initial round of negotiations between Tehran and Washington occurred in Muscat on April 12. The subsequent round took place last Saturday in Rome, facilitated by Omani mediation.

In early March, US President Donald Trump reached out to Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, proposing the initiation of negotiations on a nuclear agreement. Trump expressed a preference for striking a deal with Tehran over resorting to military action. On March 30, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced Tehran's refusal to engage in direct talks with Washington, while remaining open to talks mediated by a third party. Trump warned Iran of unprecedented bombing if the negotiations were to fail.
