Thika Rescue Centre Children Enjoy Festive Celebration Organized by MP Alice Nganga

Thika, Kenya – The Thika Rescue Centre, home to many destitute children, experienced an early Christmas celebration thanks to the efforts of area Member of Parliament, Alice Nganga. The event featured meals, gifts, and the presence of government officials, bringing joy and hope to the children during the festive season.

According to Kenya News Agency, a teacher at the center, this celebration provided the children with a rare opportunity to partake in the festive season’s joy, something they have not experienced in years due to a lack of family support. Nthenya expressed gratitude towards MP Nganga, noting that the center is currently facing financial difficulties and without her intervention, this year’s Christmas would have been particularly bleak.

“The children are happy spending time with their leaders, giving them motivation and hope,” Nthenya said, emphasizing the positive impact of the event on the children’s morale.

MP Nganga, who also serves as the National Assembly Chair of the Committee on Social Protection, highlighted the importance of such events in inspiring hope in the children. She urged other well-wishers to extend their support to the less fortunate, especially during a time when many Kenyans are experiencing economic hardship.

The Thika Rescue Centre, which houses over 100 boys, has a track record of nurturing success. Some of its residents have graduated with various degrees and secured employment, transitioning into normal life. Nganga emphasized the continuous support provided to children in rescue centers, ensuring they receive education and job opportunities.

Furthermore, Nganga mentioned the committee’s efforts to protect rescue centers from land grabbers. The plan includes securing title deeds and fencing for all centers across the country to safeguard their property. “Criminals have been salivating on land belonging to rescue centers, and this will not be entertained,” she stated, reaffirming the commitment to protect these vital community resources.

The festive event at the Thika Rescue Centre not only provided immediate joy to the children but also reaffirmed the commitment of local leaders and the community to support and uplift the lives of the less fortunate.
