Wuzhen: The 12th Wuzhen Theater Festival commenced Thursday evening in the historic water town of Wuzhen, situated in Zhejiang Province, east China. The event has drawn in a multitude of theater enthusiasts from across the globe.

According to Namibia Press Agency, this year's festival, themed "swirling up," will continue until October 26 and boasts an array of 25 specially-invited plays from 10 different countries and regions. It also features 18 plays competing in the emerging theater artists' competition, alongside dialogues, theater workshops, reading sessions, and vibrant outdoor carnivals.

A standout performance is the theatrical play "Anthropolis-Marathon" by the German theater Deutsches SchauSpielHaus Hamburg. The play, which incorporates five Greek mythology tales, has garnered significant attention and facilitated a deeper dialogue between eastern and western drama cultures.

Chen Xianghong, a co-founder of the festival, highlighted the international focus on diversity and inclusiveness that the Wuzhen Theater Festival has maintained since its inception in 2013. The festival remains committed to nurturing a system for young talent.
