According to Burkina Information Agency, in an atmosphere imbued with solemnity and civic engagement, the city of P´ resonated with the commemoration of the 169th International Women's Day. This year, the discussion focused on a major challenge for Burkina Faso: "Building lasting peace: what contribution can women and girls make to living together?"
For representatives of women's organizations in the region, this day was not simply a celebration, but a platform for advocacy. One after another, the spokespeople emphasized the resilience of women in the face of the security crisis, reminding everyone that they are often the first victims of conflict, but also the primary agents of social mediation. 'We no longer want to be mere spectators of peace, but architects of dialogue in our homes and communities,' the representatives declared.
The governor of the Nazinon region, Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma/Sanou, praised the exceptional mobilization of girls and women in the region for the various activities organized as part of the festivities. She stressed the need to involve the women's junta more in security-related decision-making processes. Ms. Nacoulma urged women to be guardians of peace, reminding them that living together begins with small, daily acts of tolerance and fraternity. For the governor, women's contribution is the essential foundation for rebuilding national unity.
Concluding the festivities, Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma/Sanou invited each woman to leave with a simple mission: to become an ambassador of peace in her neighborhood and village, so that Nazinon remains a foundation of stability for Burkina Faso. Before the ceremony began, the audience sang the anthem of victory of the fighting forces over the forces of evil in the Kassim language. Also, the provincial coordination organized sports activities, sanitation in public places and a conference on the theme.
