The Soum Honors National Languages and Teachers with Celebratory Week

Djibo: The Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Soum concluded its commemorative activities on Saturday in Djibo, focusing on the Day of Recognition of the Student towards his Teacher and the Day of National Languages. The event was characterized by a celebration of excellence, recognition, and cultural appreciation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the activities, led by Mr. Hamidou Ciss©, the provincial director of the DPEPPNF of Soum, emphasized the importance of national languages and the pivotal role teachers play in nurturing future generations. The week-long celebration featured reading and storytelling contests in Fulfulde, Moor©, and Koronf© languages, showcasing the cultural and linguistic diversity of the Soum province.

Outstanding students were honored with awards, encouraging academic excellence and the integration of national languages into the educational framework. In a gesture of gratitude towards educators, a delegation of education officials visited a teacher’s residence, presenting gifts to acknowledge the dedication and sacrifices made by teachers.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Loss©ni II Jumeau Woni, the Secretary General of the Soum province and representative of the High Commissioner, praised the initiative. He urged the community to continue promoting national languages and to uphold the respect owed to teachers, highlighting that proficiency in national languages and respect for educators are fundamental to the dignity and values of Burkinabe society.
