Yendabili: The cultural and sporting activities of the National Institute for the Training of Education Personnel (INFPE) of the East concluded with the triumphant victory of the “Red Eagles” football team over the “Arrows” by 2 goals to 1. This event marked the end of the 2025 edition, held in Yendabili on May 14, 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the INFPE de l’Est organized these cultural and sports competitions to integrate educational theory with practice. The participants included learners from branch primary schools and student teachers undergoing training. The event featured a wide array of activities such as ballet, playback, storytelling, slam, recital, poetry, novel reading, Maracana football, and women’s handball, showcasing the students’ diverse talents.
Amidou Djama Hubert Thiombiano, the regional director of the INFPE of the East, highlighted the theme of the edition, “For order and discipline, teacher, get involved!”, emphasizing its significance in promoting a patriotic revival and national cultural heritage, as desired by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore. He underscored the importance of discipline, responsibility, and patriotic commitment among future teachers, who are envisioned as key figures in social transformation.
Thiombiano noted that the artistic and literary expressions during the competitions revealed the depth of cultural heritage, which serves as a foundation of identity and resilience against security challenges. The Maracana football final saw the student-teacher team “Les fl¨ches” face off against the “Red Eagles” in a 50-minute match. Despite an initial advantage, “Les fl¨ches” failed to score, while “Red Eagles” secured victory through a penalty shootout.
The victorious “Red Eagles” were awarded a set of jerseys, a cash prize of 25,000 CFA francs, and the trophy. Brice Bassono, the captain of the winning team, commended the organizers for the event, noting that it provided an opportunity to discover human qualities beyond traditional training.
