The Population Cleans Up Public Spaces in Gay©ri

Gay©ri: The people of the city of Gay©ri have cleaned up the grounds of the town hall, the market, SONABEL, the environment department and the surrounding area. As part of the implementation of the Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation Days (JEPPC), the High Commissioner of the Komondjari Province organized a sanitation day in the city of Gay©ri on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

According to Burkina Information Agency, civilians, military personnel, paramilitaries, and administrative, religious, and traditional authorities took part in the activity. Rake in hand, Valentin GNANOU, High Commissioner of the province, kicked off the activity at Gay©ri City Hall by cleaning up the garbage there.

The day's activity involved the Gay©ri town hall, the market, the environment, SONABEL and their surroundings, as well as the streets there. After the activity, the High Commissioner thanked the people for their mobilization. On this occasion, he took the opportunity to raise awareness among the community about the importance of cleanliness in the family, workplaces, neighborhoods, and the environment. He also invited people to avoid open defecation, which is a source of disease.

'I would like to thank each and every one of you for this mobilization. We really came together for the activity. Good actions start first in the family, in the courtyard, in front of the courtyard. If the interior and front of each family are clean, the city will be clean. If you see that the city is dirty, it is surely because the interior of our families is dirty, otherwise we would not repeat these actions outside. I would like once again to thank each and every one of you for the work done. I thank you,' said the High Commissioner.

Following this awareness-raising session, the meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Non-Formal Basic Education Center (CEBNF) in sector 5 of Gay©ri for the solemn raising of the colors accompanied by the second day of sanitation.
