The Pedal of Peace’ Offers Tricycles to People in Need.

Ioba: The General Commissariat of the Peace Pedal (PDP), working in partnership with Brigadier General Vinta Somé, has provided two tricycles, valued at 220,000 CFA francs, to individuals with disabilities during a ceremony held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, in Dano. The event took place at the Provincial Directorate of Humanitarian Action of Ioba, where two beneficiaries, Domdjirè Somé from the commune of Niégo and Nifaboyolo Somé from the village of Bolembar in the commune of Dano, received these life-enhancing tricycles.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was attended by Gouman Evariste Somé, the provincial director in charge of humanitarian action of Ioba, and Sylvestre Ouédraogo, the provincial director of Sports and Leisure. Arsène Ferrebou Kamboulé, president of the PDP organizing committee, highlighted that this donation represents a purely social act. He emphasized that this is the second occasion on which the Peace Pedal has provided tricycles to disadvantaged disabled individuals
, recalling that a bicycle had previously been donated by a sponsor, bringing the total to five bicycles given to disabled people in the Ioba province.

Nawinsoa Bienvenu Somé, the general commissioner of the PDP, stated that the donation aligns with the inclusive vision of the sports organization. He noted that a tricycle bicycle race is organized for disabled people, both men and women, during each edition of the PDP, underscoring the organization’s sensitivity to the challenges faced by people with disabilities. “We were sensitive to the suffering of some people with disabilities. That is why we are offering them these bicycles as a symbol of our social responsibility,” he said.

Gouman Evariste Somé, the provincial director in charge of Humanitarian Action, expressed his gratitude to the PDP for its dedication to improving the living conditions of those facing difficulties. He elaborated that participating in the cycle race allows people with disabilities to feel included, and the donation of tricycles st
rengthens their mobility and integration into socio-economic activities.

The recipients, visibly moved and grateful, conveyed their appreciation and blessings to the donors, expressing hope for the continuation of this initiative.
