The PDS Calls for Respect Among Sports Stakeholders in Zambo Primary Schools

Silly: The Basic Education District (CEB) of Zambo officially launched the activities of the Organization of Sport, Culture and Recreation in Primary Schools (OSCLEP) for the 2025-2026 school year on Wednesday. This 14th edition of OSCLEP is themed: "Sport, culture and solidarity: building resilience and peace in Burkina Faso". The event, chaired by the prefect, president of the special municipal delegation, Tassere Badini, mobilized the 28 primary schools of the Zambo CEB (Basic Education Center).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch ceremony, held at the Zambo school, was marked by the performance of the national anthem in the Dagara language, speeches, and two football matches. The exhibition match between the headteachers and their deputies ended with a score of 3-0 in favor of the deputies. The inaugural football match pitted the Korb¨ and Kpankpir¨ bilingual schools against each other, with Korb¨ winning 2-0. Nessoumo Malo, Secretary General of the OSCLEP Executive Board, emphasized the importance of sport and culture in schools and society. "Sport teaches young people discipline, effort, respect for rules, and above all, fair play, while culture is the foundation of our identity," he stressed.

The chairman of the organizing committee, K´g Narcisse Hien, thanked the national authorities for their commitment to promoting sport and culture in schools, before highlighting the values of these disciplines. "School sport is a school of citizenship. It teaches young people to respect the rules, to accept victory with humility and defeat with dignity." 'Culture reminds us that we are a people rich in tradition and creativity,' he stated. Mr. Hien called on the students to participate enthusiastically, in a spirit of fair play.

The president of the special delegation of the Zambo commune, Tassere Badini, commended the unwavering commitment of educational officials, pedagogical supervisors, and teachers for the effective implementation of sports and cultural activities, despite various constraints. He reaffirmed the special delegation's willingness to support any initiative contributing to the improvement of the local education system. The PDS urged participating students to adopt exemplary behavior based on fair play, solidarity, and mutual respect.
