Nanoro: Residents of the Passor© province living in Nanoro, united within the 'Lagemtaaba' association, carried out a large-scale sanitation operation at the locality's Urban Medical Center (CMU) on Saturday, April 25, AIB observed.
According to Burkina Information Agency, armed with pickaxes, hoes, machetes, wheelbarrows, and axes, the members of the association mobilized in large numbers with the objective of completely cleaning the premises and surroundings of the health facility. This initiative aims to offer a healthy care environment for patients and a decent working environment for medical staff.
Maxime P. Djiguemd©, a merchant and president of the association created in 2023, stated that this first sanitation initiative is just the beginning. He emphasized that "Lagemtaaba" intends to invest in training its members and, above all, in agriculture, responding to the call from the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, for food self-sufficiency.
Retired pediatrician and head of women's issues for the association, Awa Kondombo/Djiguemd©, highlighted the vital importance of this act by stating, "Hygiene is the cornerstone of health; it drastically reduces infections." She also mentioned that the association plans to combat malnutrition through the development of small businesses, poultry farming, and agriculture.
The head of the CMU, Henri Gilbert Kabor©, expressed his deep gratitude to the people of Passor©. He praised their "noble and beneficial initiative" and invited other organizations and the local population to follow the example set by the "Lagemtaaba" association in supporting the development of healthcare in the community.
