Tenkodogo: Naaba Guiguempol©, Dima of Zoungrantenga and King of Tenkodogo, performed the 'Bougoum Yaogho' pilgrimage on Friday. This practice aims not only to honor Naaba Bougoum, who gave everything to the supreme sacrifice for his kingdom, but also to perpetuate his ritual of resistance against invaders.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Naaba Bougoum reigned for 40 years, from 1600 to 1640, and was one of the kings of the Zoungrantenga dynasty who worked for the stability and peace of the kingdom, despite the invasions of that time.
Naaba Bougoum, as his name suggests, was a Dima renowned for his strength and the firepower of his army. Every year, His Majesty Naaba Guiguempol©, Dima of Zoungrantenga and King of Tenkodogo, accompanied by all his ministers, griots, notables, and the population, travels approximately 7 kilometers west of the palace to pay homage to him.
'Bougoum Yaogho' in Moor© means the tomb of Naaba Bougoum. This ritual takes place 21 days after the Nabasga, or end of harvest festival, and is part of the register of major ceremonies in the kingdom.
