S©gu©n©ga: The 8th edition of the National Tree Day (JNA) was celebrated on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the reforestation site set up within the grounds of the Public Treasury, AIB observed.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was presided over by the second vice-president of the Special Delegation of S©gu©n©ga, Illiass B©lem. Members of the municipal citizen watch, water and forestry agents, constituted bodies, and local residents gathered to plant trees, highlighting the significance of the day dedicated to trees.
Hamad© Ou©draogo, the local president of the citizen watch group, commended the dedication of those involved in environmental protection and urged the population to support the President of Burkina Faso in this initiative. The planting of several seedlings by the second vice-president marked the official start of the 2026 planting campaign in the municipal territory.
This activity, as stated by the authority, signifies the municipality’s renewed commitment to restoring vegetation cover, combating desertification, and preserving the environment for future generations. Illiass B©lem encouraged the population, technical services, associations, and civil society organizations to embrace the national initiative by planting and maintaining trees to ensure their survival and contribute to the sustainable development of the municipality.
