The DREPPNF Team Champions of the 2025 Edition of the Governor’s Cup

Yatenga: The 8th edition of the Maracana tournament of the governor of the Northern region, known as the "Inter-service tournament," culminated on Monday, January 13, 2025, in Ouahigouya with the triumph of the regional directorate in charge of Education. The team of the regional directorate of primary and non-formal preschool education (DREPPNF) claimed victory in the tournament, overcoming the justice team in the final through penalties.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the victorious team was awarded a trophy, a set of jerseys, balls, and a financial prize of 100,000 FCFA. The justice team, as the runner-up, received 75,000 FCFA, a ball, and a set of jerseys. The regional director of sports and leisure in the North, Bouma Benao, highlighted that the tournament's aim was to unite young people to promote widespread participation in sports, enhance social cohesion, and encourage harmonious living among workers.

Bouma Benao emphasized the tournament's emphasis on peace, mentioning that a message of peace was shared at the beginning of each match. He expressed joy over the fair play observed throughout the competition. The governor of the region, Issouf Ou©draogo, expressed gratitude towards the organizing committee for their dedication to the event's success despite challenges. He appreciated the role of football in strengthening social bonds and hoped for peace in the Northern region and Burkina Faso as a whole.

Sana Mahamadi, the captain of the DREPPNF team, expressed happiness over their victory, stating that the team worked hard for two months to secure the trophy. He also acknowledged the efforts of the justice team, who he believed performed commendably. The maracana tournament, which commenced on November 16, 2024, featured 17 teams from various services in the region.
