The Diapaga Basic Education District Resumes OSCEP Activities with Energetic Launch

Tapoa: The Diapaga Basic Education District (CEB) launched its activities of the Organization of Sports and Culture in Primary Schools (OSCEP) on Wednesday, AIB noted.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Diapaga CEB initiated its OSCEP activities with a cross-country race and an aerobics session. Participants, including teachers, FDS (Foreign Service), and administrative, customary, and religious authorities of the city, started from Untaani High School in Diapaga and proceeded through the city’s streets before gathering at the Centre B school for an aerobics session.



A key highlight of the event was the opening match between Central School A and Central School B, culminating in a victory for Central School B with a score of two goals to zero.



During the ceremony, Fran§ois d’Assise Gnoula, Head of the Diapaga Diassibo Basic Education District, explained the resumption of sports and cultural activities after a 3-year hiatus due to security concerns. He stressed the significance of sports and culture in the holistic education of children, quoting Socrates to emphasize the necessity of physical training.



Gnoula also addressed the importance of culture, likening a person without culture to a tree without fruit. He advocated that sport and culture are crucial in achieving educational goals and enhancing academic performance.



Over the next three months, twelve teams will compete for the Diapaga CEB Cup, despite challenges posed by a humanitarian crisis and security issues. Gnoula called for sportsmanship and educational focus throughout the competition.



The vibrant ceremony, celebrating the resilience of the educational community, was presided over by the Prefect of Diapaga and sponsored by Captain Yannick Sawadogo, Chief of Staff of the 63rd RIC of Diapaga. The OSCEP activities are themed “Sport and Culture in Primary Schools in the Face of Security and Humanitarian Challenges: A Lever of Resilience for Educational Communities.”
