The Cinkans© Arts And Traditions Festival Officially Launched In Yargatenga

Yargatenga: The first edition of the Cinkans© Arts and Traditions Festival (FAT/C) was officially launched on Thursday, May 15, 2026, in Cinkans©, within the Yargatenga commune. Scheduled from May 15 to 20, 2026, the event aims to promote culture, patriotism, and community spirit.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the festival is themed "Cultural diversity and patriotism as levers for endogenous development and social cohesion." The opening ceremony attracted administrative, customary, religious authorities, defense and security forces, as well as a large delegation of guests and festival-goers.

The festival's promoter, singer Jean-Roger Compaor©, known by his stage name Prince Romesco, highlighted the essential role of culture in education and the transmission of values, likening it to the relationship between a mother and her child.

The president of the Yargatenga Special Delegation (PDS), Mahamadou Saramb©, acknowledged Burkina Faso's rich cultural diversity as a true factor of resilience. He praised the initiative for bringing together different cultural communities such as the Fulani, Mossi, and Yaana, showcasing them through artistic and cultural performances.

Mr. Saramb© encouraged the local population to use the festival as a platform for peace, fraternity, and promoting harmonious coexistence. Patouinewend© Belem, the provincial director in charge of culture and honorary president of the festival, also commended the promoter for his dedication to cultural promotion, noting that such events reflect the people's attachment to their values and shared heritage. He remarked that Cinkans© has now become a venue for cultural expression and the strengthening of social cohesion.

Festival patron Simon Ou©draogo expressed that this initiative will enhance the cultural riches of Yargatenga and Burkina Faso, emphasizing that culture remains a significant factor of unity, peace, and resilience amid the current security context. He also paid tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for their sacrifices in favor of the nation.
