Gnagna: The CEB of Pi©la launches the mutual insurance fund for education personnel. On the occasion of Labor Day, the Basic Education District (CEB) of Pi©la, in the province of Gnagna, officially launched the Pi©la Education Personnel Mutual Fund (MUPEP) on Thursday to strengthen the social protection of those involved.

According to Burkina Information Agency, teachers and educational supervisors of the CEB of Pi©la gathered in a spirit of solidarity to celebrate May 1st. The highlight of the day was the official launch of MUPEP, a mutual social insurance company run by and for education workers.

The head of the CEB of Pi©la, Matthieu Ou©draogo, stated that the creation of MUPEP addresses a pressing need for social coverage amidst the challenges of professional and personal life. “This mutual insurance company aims to strengthen cohesion between colleagues, while providing support in the event of happy or sad events and temporary financial difficulties,” he explained.

The establishment of MUPEP is the result of several months of consultation among staff representatives, local union structures, and educational authorities. The founding members have adopted the statutes and internal regulations of the mutual insurance company, which will begin operations in May 2025.

Staff members welcomed the initiative, viewing it as a means to take charge of their own well-being. “MUPEP is a tool for mutual support, but also a lever of motivation and dignity for us educators,” said MUPEP President Bahanla Mano.

In the medium term, MUPEP also plans to initiate training initiatives for its members, aiming to foster a new dynamic of solidarity and empowerment in the local education sector.
