Ouahigouya: The activities of the 2nd edition of the secondary school sports, cultural, and artistic competitions (COSCASS) were launched on Friday in the Mamoudou Ou©draogo multipurpose hall in Ouahigouya, giving young artists in school the opportunity to flourish, AIB observed on site.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event opened under the theme, "Sport, arts and culture in schools, factors of development and emergence of talents," in the city of Naaba Kango. The competitions, scheduled from April 17th to 19th, 2026, are held under the patronage of the Minister of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training (MESFPT), Professor Moumini Zoungrana, represented by the Governor of the Yaadga region, Thomas Yampa. The disciplines featured in the competition include music, traditional dance, artistic creation, traditional wrestling, cycling, and the preparation of local dishes.
On behalf of the sponsors, El Hadj Dialili B©lem expressed gratitude to the authorities for their recognition and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at training patriotic and responsible citizens.
Speaking for Professor Moumini Zoungrana, Governor Thomas Yampa conveyed his appreciation to all participants and supporters of the event. He emphasized the importance placed on this vision by the country's highest authorities, asserting the ministry's commitment to promoting artistic, cultural, and sporting activities for all its employees. Yampa highlighted that sport serves as more than entertainment; it acts as a lever for social transformation. He urged participants to avoid violence, incivility, intolerance, neglect of hygiene, and narcotics during their stay in Ouahigouya and in their daily lives.
The event was officially launched with a drumbeat by the governor of the Yaadga region, who wished all competitors good luck in the competition.
