Johannesburg: Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs Téte António arrived on Thursday in Johannesburg to take part in the 74th Ordinary Session of the Commission of the African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Africa's Development (AUDA-NEPAD), which is the implementing arm for the African Union's 2063 Agenda. According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting, held in Sandton from May 14 to 15, focuses on analyzing geopolitical developments and their implications for Africa. Key topics include the conflict in the Middle East and its impact on the African continent, emerging global dynamics, and the role of middle powers. Additionally, the session aims to review the AUDA-NEPAD Strategy for the 2025-2029 period, titled 'Investing in the Africa We Want', and discuss the main decisions from the 43rd Session of the Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government, which took place last February in Addis Ababa. Preparations for the organization's 8th Semiannual Coordination Summit, scheduled for June in Alamein, are also on the agenda. Téte António was welcomed at Oliver Tambo International Airport by the Angolan Ambassador to South Africa, Joo Baptista Domingos Quiosa. The AUDA-NEPAD ordinary sessions typically focus on implementing the African Union's 2063 Agenda, financing and sustainability of continental programs, African economic integration, regional infrastructure, energy and industrialization, food security, agricultural transformation, and cooperation among Member States. AUDA-NEPAD acquired formal status in 2019, succeeding the former NEPAD program. During the 43rd session held in February, the President of the Republic, Joo Lourenço, assumed the presidency of the Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government of AUDA-NEPAD.
