Malaba: The Member of Parliament for Teso North Constituency, Oku Kaunya, laid the foundation stone for an eight-storey classroom block at Malaba Comprehensive Primary School. The project aims to enhance educational infrastructure for over 2,500 learners.
According to Kenya News Agency, the construction will be financed by the Teso North National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) at a total cost of Sh30 million. The new building will include an administration block, aimed at reducing congestion and improving learning conditions.
During the ceremony, MP Kaunya emphasized the importance of providing safe and comfortable learning environments. He urged the contractor to ensure quality work and adhere to the project timeline to prevent delays.
Kaunya highlighted that this project is part of a broader initiative to upgrade school infrastructure throughout Teso North. Due to resource constraints, these developments will be executed in phases, beginning with the construction of one-storey classroom blocks in selected schools per ward.
He also commended the schools in the constituency for their improved performance in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations, reaffirming education as a top priority for the community's future.
