ECOWAS on Friday strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Burkina Faso. She also urged the government to urgently open an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

“The ECOWAS Commission is following with great concern the latest security events in Burkina Faso with the loss of life of around thirty soldiers as well as army auxiliaries on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 June 2023 by jihadists presumed, in the west and north of the country.
ECOWAS strongly condemns these new attacks and offers its sincere condolences to the families and to the bereaved government and people of Burkina Faso.
It urges the Government to urgently deploy an investigation with a view to apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrators of this barbaric attack.
The ECOWAS Commission reiterates its full support for the people of Burkina Faso and renews its availability to support the country in its fight against insecurity.
