OUAGADOUGOU — A tragic event unfolded in Burkina Faso as terrorists killed at least 14 people, including the grand imam, in a mosque in Natiaboani, located in the Eastern region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, The assault occurred on Sunday, February 25, 2024, marking another sorrowful day for the nation and its religious communities.

The Burkina Faso Information Agency reported the FAIB’s press release, which expressed profound grief over the incident. The statement highlighted that the attack resulted in 14 fatalities among the faithful, with two succumbing to their injuries in hospital. The FAIB condemned the attacks as “unjustifiable barbaric acts” and extended its condolences to the families of the deceased, the affected communities, and the entire nation. It also called for a swift recovery for all injured parties.

In a message of solidarity, the FAIB reiterated its support for all combatants on various fronts and the country’s authorities, urging the nation’s faithful to intensify their prayers for peace and divine intervention to soften the hearts of the attackers. Cheick Sidi Mohamed Maiga, President of the FAIB Presidium, issued a call for national unity and peace, underscoring the resilience of Burkina Faso in the face of adversity.
